Dale Herder, OD
Dr. Herder is a graduate of Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. Tennessee. He graduated in the top part of his class and has been in practice for 32 years. He is a member of the AOA, KOA, OEP, Eye Care Council, See-To-Learn, Lion's Club, and other local and national organizations. He and his family attend the Baptist Church in Burlington. When not working, he enjoys fishing, hunting, travel, and participating in all outdoor sports. He and his family also have a passion for KU basketball and football and try to never miss a game.
Dale has been married to the former Denise Catherine Muscari for over 30 years. They have twin boys, Barry and Brian. Denise was born in Memphis, Tennessee and met Dale while he was there attending optometry school. She attended Memphis State University and then after getting married graduated from Emporia State University with a degree in Elementary Education/Special Ed. Denise has also been trained in Reading Recovery and is now a Reading Recovery Specialist for USD 244 in Burlington. Barry graduated from KU and is working on his Masters in Oklahoma. He wants to get his Masters in psychology and specialize in christian counseling. Brian graduated from KU with a Masters in Information Technology in Lawrence. He holds a private pilot's license.
Dr. Herder has a general family practice oriented office but also offers pediatric services, low vision, contact lenses, pre and post refractive surgery care, pre and post cataract surgery care, vision training, and diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma and other eye diseases, as well as foreign body removal from the eye.
Dr. Herder is also a certified PACE instructor. PACE stands for Perceptual and Cognitive Enhancement. This is a program designed for children with learning disabilities and difficulties in school. It is an 18 week program with a guaranteed improvement of two years in the 18 weeks. Julie Schneider
Julie was born in Garnett and is married to Alan Schneider. They have two children, Braden, age 14 and Emily, age 6. In her spare time, Julie likes to exercise, shop (power shopper???), and eat.
Julie,is the office extrovert and has taken and passed both the Optometric Assistant degree and the Optometric Technician degree. She is trained for most office tasks. On any given day you may find her doing a little bit of everything. She particularly enjoys helping our patients with frame styling and teaching contact lens insertion and removal. Most of the time Julie will be the first person you speak to on the phone or when arriving at the office.

Sara Westman
Sara is a native Californian and moved here with her husband Mike several years ago. They have two children, Jeremiah and Lisa. They have one granddaughter at this time. Sara enjoys , and is always busy with her church activities.
In the office, Sara takes case histories, does frame styling, and assists with front office duties as well as contact lens insertion and removal.
